Who We Are
The Environmental Reporting Collective (ERC) is a growing global network of journalists and newsrooms, working together to investigate crimes, harms and issues affecting the environment and the communities that depend on it.
Our collaborative model means that our journalism — including stories, videos, photography, and other reporting — is freely available for media organizations to republish and adapt under a Creative Commons BY-NC 4.0 license.
This approach allows us to investigate complex environmental issues across borders and amplify their impact through:
1
COLLABORATIVE REPORTING
Our journalists work across countries and newsrooms, uncover connections, trace environmental harms across borders and fill gaps that would be difficult for any one newsroom to investigate alone
2
GLOBAL ISSUES, LOCAL PERSPECTIVES
Partner newsrooms are encouraged to bring local context and perspectives to global environmental stories.
3
A WIDER AUDIENCE
Our network of more than 20 partners across four continents allows our investigations to reach wider audiences and have a much higher impact.

Today, ERC continues to lead cross-border investigations into environmental crimes and harms, examining their causes, consequences and connections to the global climate and biodiversity crises
